pleated floral mini dress

[Gap dress, Sam Edelman boots c/o Piperlime, Ray-Ban wayfarers, Banana Republic necklace, BCBG clutch]
Sometimes, I judge a book by it’s cover. Well, not really a book and not exactly a cover, but I do judge sale rack clothes. If there are a lot of one item left, I assume the worst: it must look horrible on every body type, feel like sandpaper, or be overall unattractive. I’m working on that. There are times when that may be true–some bad covers turn out to be really bad books. But this floral print dress taught me to rethink my sale rack assumption. Once I popped into the dressing room, I saw that the pleats were feminine, the waist a classic cut, and the pattern sweetly playful. The longer sleeves also offer a great option to transition from winter to spring with ease. So I’m making my own internal pledge to be an “equal opportunity sales shopper.” Even the left behind pieces get their fair chance at a proper styling.
If I find any more sale rack surprises this weekend, I’ll be sure to share them here + here.
