If you’re expecting to find an “April Fools!” at the end of this post, I promise there isn’t one. I saw a similar version of this fashion hack on Pinterest and immediately wanted to recreate it. I pulled an old piece right from E’s closet and got to tying my very own button down shirt skirt. The style proved incredibly easy to wear–lightweight with a playful edge. By tucking a linen tank and adding slingback kitten heels, I drew in more feminine elements as a contrast. And just in case you’re feeling adventurous, here’s how it’s done:

  1. slip into the shirt, leaving the top few buttons undone
  2. button to your waist until tight (but not uncomfortable)
  3. pull both sleeves forward and tie a double knot in front, leaving 4-5 inches between the knot and waistline
  4. tuck in the collar at the top so it doesn’t show

p.s. don’t worry about it looking perfectly pressed–this is more of an ‘undone’ silhouette
