When you’re a little tyke, people say “you can be anything you want!” I have two miffs with that statement: one, I don’t entirely believe it’s true. Two, no one ever warns, “you can be anything you want, but not everything you want.” And over the years I’ve had a lot of wants. It’s not that I wasn’t capable of being these things–but the reality sets in later in life that I have to choose something, a direction. For instance, I didn’t pursue my childhood passion of becoming the next installment of Spice Girls. But other things are harder to let slip, so I keep them on the back burner and dabble every once in a while. One of those goals is event planning. I adore everything about the process from envisioning to execution. My first “big girl job” was as assistant to wedding planner Eliza Cowan of Eliza Cowan Events. She took me on board, showed me the beauty, and let me up-close-and-personal to the operation. Recently I’ve been getting a chance to exercise those skills as maid of honor in two upcoming weddings. Today I’m sharing an event I planned for one of the lovely brides. I hope you enjoy the images from a bridal shower brunch honoring my sweet sister.
