The elephant in my own personal mind-room is that I never wrote Esko’s birth story on the blog yet here I am sharing his first birthday party. But so it goes. Maybe that will come later or maybe he’ll be the mysterious fourth child with an unknown entrance.
While planning to celebrate this little man I fell in love with the theme of silly goose. It struck me as playful, sweet, and frankly not too hard to pull off.
We served brunch items that were simple finger-food style as well as themed sweet treats. I made a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and fondant toppers. There were also cupcakes galore and sugar cookies that let me to dabble in royal icing.
And let me now give you the real real. Esko’s first birthday party falls in the crazy time of year where calendars are full and spending is high. So as much as I heart Meri Meri for party supplies, it just wasn’t in the cards. I went the way of Temu with plenty of things. They’re not the quality I’m proud of but it fit the budget.
There was, however, one thing I might mark as the most brilliant party invention of the century: an inflatable and reusable balloon garland. I follow Minnidip on Instagram and signed up for their presale of the products. It is genius, easiest thing ever, and will feature in every future celebration.
