One of my best friends is five-foot-zero. That puts us nine inches apart–like two peas in a misshapen pod. So clothes shopping together is quite the adventure. She beelines to the petites while I’m searching for the buried “Tall” in a pile of regular length jeans. And so many times I’ve found myself loving a piece on her that does not translate to my body type. The waist hits too high, the hemline is six inches past inappropriate or the whole thing looks plain frumpy. This happens a lot with dresses in particular. I almost gave up on this J.Crew floral mini dress for that very reason. The length was just not quite there to make me feel comfortable with moving (at all). But the pattern was too lovely to pass up. And the side pockets with piped waistline made for a flattering fit. So I pulled a little fashion hack and layered a silk slip underneath. The lace trimming looks like an extension of the dress and definitely offers some needed coverage.
Our weekend plans are taking us from city to beach and I couldn’t be more ecstatic! It’s all in real-time on Instagram + Snapchat (@onebrassfox).
