On February first, E handed me a small gray envelope with a tiny #1 drawn in pencil on the back. Since then, every night, he’s given me one identical envelope inside of which is a letter sharing something he loves about us. They’ve covered everything from our budding friendship to life in marriage. At first, I couldn’t get over the thoughtfulness (still amazed). But secondly, I came to have perspective on everything we’ve been through. I love Valentine’s Day, and this sexy black jumpsuit paired with striking red heels is taking its first spin out for sushi date night. But it’s not just for the “yucky love stuff” that I enjoy the holiday. It makes me appreciate–whether family, friends, or marriage–the people in my life who’ve stuck there through thick and thin. So I’m ecstatic to end this work week, slip into a sleek nighttime look, and dab on my favorite valentine lip shade.
