Between the ages of three and nine, there was one question used as a friendship barometer: What’s your favorite color? If we had the same answer, we were instant best friends (forever). If your color wasn’t my favorite but I didn’t dislike it, we could play together at recess. If I hated your favorite color there was no getting over that–we were just too different. I still have my preferred color (green), but it doesn’t mean my walls, pencil cases, and knapsack are all the same shade. Instead, I play with colors based on my mood. These red heels and cherry lip form a powerful combo. Wearing them I feel a playful sense of confidence.
