I’ve gotten a lot of questions over the past few months about my thoughts on this whole capsule wardrobe endeavor. I started it back around Memorial Day and have been going strong ever since. With just a few additions (like this linen crop top), I’ve felt fully prepared for any outfit situation. Honestly, the main word I can think to describe this experience is liberating. As much as I love fashion, the prospect of getting dressed can really be overwhelming. With an overflowing closet it became easy to think, “I have nothing to wear.” In reality, I couldn’t even see half the stuff I owned. So, here I am, with a curated selection of items that allows me freedom of choice without paralyzing indecision.
In short, I plan to do it again for fall. At this point I have no idea how to narrow down all my cozy sweaters (hello, lifelong New Englander), but we’ll see. And I’ll learn from certain mistakes I made the first time around. For instance, I was unbalanced between tops and bottoms. I chose to include more bottoms than necessary yet underestimated the shirts I’d need. Adding this linen crop top has been a nice breath of fresh air. Produced in California from eco-friendly materials, the Sotela company focuses on values of body positivity, positive impact, humanity, and environment. Along with the other brands in my capsule wardrobe, I’m honored to represent their mission in some small way.
