I recently read an article that Emily of Cupcakes & Cashmere shared entitled “The Disease of Being Busy”. That alone grabbed me. It’s absolutely worth the read but, in short, it talks about the habit of busyness that now forms from childhood. And it’s not simply that our calendars are busy, but it’s the way we relate to one another. Just picture all those times a friend has asked, “How are you?” and the response was, “So busy!” Well, everybody’s busy. And if we spend our time only talking about the crammed days and jam-packed weekends, we miss the opportunity to truly connect. Want to know what else is sadly impressive? This easily happens even when you live together. Just about two years into our marriage, E and I already recognize the need for intentional time. Being in the same space together doesn’t mean we’re relating or even talking to one another. We have to commit to those moments of ‘no distraction.’
This chance to step out in Chinatown with our wedding photographer Katie of Katie Noble Photography put us on a high for weeks. She’s been with us through some major life moments and has this way of making you feel like a best friend. So getting in front of her lens is always a treat. It gave us a way to set aside any other tasks or to-do’s and just play. Coming up on two years together feels like a day and a lifetime all at once. So we looked to pull off a modern twist on the traditional wedding colors and go for E in all black and myself in a geometric white jumpsuit.
