Getting to be in New York City during Fashion Week is as close to a lifelong dream as I’ve ever had. Packed away in the basement of my parent’s house are countless notebooks filled with my (albeit terrible) sketches. I used to doodle different dress designs or try to mimic the looks I saw in magazines. So while I didn’t quite get the artist genes of putting those creations to paper, I still have all these swirling designer thoughts. I don’t think my imagined fabrics ever got quite as detailed as this patterned skirt, but it made the best pick for day one in the city. And being at the heart of it all for just a few days feels exhilarating. I’m finishing up one more day with Alexis Mera at Axis Show before we head to Long Island for a much needed weekend of rest.
