layered coat look

This year at New York Fashion Week a trend popped up among the street style icons: layered coats. No doubt it was born out of frigid necessity, but the look stuck. I wanted to give it a try with pieces from my own wardrobe and pulled this trench and leather trim jacket. The key is to vary lengths and materials to avoid seeming bulky. Whenever I test a new style, I keep to a neutral palette. If I like the way it works, I’ll branch out into bolder patterns and colors. I love how simple yet elegant the draped coat looks and will definitely be working it into spring and summer combinations of lighter layers.
