You know how they say, “Go big or go home?” Well, that’s this outfit for me. It’s wildly outside of any normal comfort zone yet gives a fun, fierce day-to-night option. Combining two of the top trends this season, I put together these faux white leather booties and a leopard mini dress. I love the way this animal print is broken up by ruffled hemlines and a tailored waist. That definition is necessary to break up what could be an overwhelming look. Similarly, white accessories pop against the bold colors while still offering those neutral, finishing touches. While I can’t say my whole closet is going safari-themed after this, I feel confident about having one playful option for special occasions.
Also, for a little behind-the-scenes, here’s how I sometimes approach trends. I’ve been seeing both leopard print and white boots all over the place–from other bloggers, to Pinterest, to store window displays. But both styles seemed strong and not something I wanted to commit a big chunk of money to. After all, there was no guarantee I’d like the way they look. So, instead, I did my research and found affordable ways to dabble in the trend. Both the boots and this dress are under $35. That way, I don’t break the bank but still have a chance to perform my own ‘wardrobe experiment.’
