[Ellen Tracy coat, Isaac Mizrahi blouse (Marc Jacobs option), Citizens of Humanity jeans, BCBG Max Azria heels (similar here), Gucci wallet] |
Ellen Tracy’s fur-collar coat was a surprise purchase. Usually, when I shop, I go with a purpose or having in mind what I hope to buy. This stunning piece caught me off-guard. I swooned, seeing it hanging there–only one left in my size. Sometimes it feels like fate (or maybe that’s just impulse). But after I tried it on and tied the belt, there was no going back.
Time and again this winter I have resorted to fur. In the winter months I am a reluctant New Englander, so the cozy fox fur helps. The three-quarter length offers additional warmth while the non-bulky fabric will make it wearable in fall.
I want to advise that, in general, it is much better to shop with something specific in mind. Going to browse is a wallet’s worst fear (and results in closet clutter). So this was an exception. But I did put it to “the test”: walk around the store with the item; browse other looks/option; finally, ask yourself if you could leave without it and be totally content. When a piece doesn’t pass the test, I put it back and walk away. Obviously, Ellen Tracy passed.
