There’s a good chance I closely resemble Kristen Wiig’s character from the “Surprise Party” sketch. On the day of a surprise there’s always a moment when the suspense almost overwhelms me. And this spring has been chocked full of surprises. So for my mom’s 60th and now E’s fiesta birthday, I just about lost myself with giddy nerves. Thankfully, I don’t go quite as drastic as Wiig and burst the bubble (or jump through living room windows).
E spent all day taking a finance exam (my worst nightmare, but he didn’t mind so much). He came straight to my parents house that night expecting a quiet celebration. What he found were dear friends and both our families waiting in the back yard. We’d prepared a Mexican-inspired dinner party. DIY tacos, bottles of rose, and premium rug seating made the night a grand success. And this tablescape was months in the making with Susty Party.
